Maui Fires
The town of Lahaina was home to more than 12,000 people. In a wild fire that struck the island of Maui on August 8th, many were displaced. Homes, business, lives were lost. There are still many unaccounted for. Our caterer is Back Home to Lahaina, so we thought we would take a moment to think about the disaster in Lahaina and what we can do to help.
Relief efforts
Many efforts have cropped up, some supporting individual families, some by established organizations and some scams. Some organizations keep a fee, others pass all the money collected through. The best thing at this time since most of us are not in Hawaii, is to donate money to the relief effort.
